A Brief History of My Weekend

June 20, 2007

For something as monumental and epic as my past weekend, the tale can only be told in picture form. Being a cartophile, I've busted out the maps for all to appreciate.

First up, the map showing all the states I have visited. You'll find that Delaware and Maryland are new additions, bringing the total to 25. That's half the states. Score.

Second up is my "beer map", where I record every new beer that I've tried...at least by state. I found some stuff from Flying Fish Brewery in New Jersey and was quick to quaff a couple the same day. Total states "sampled": 30. Score again.

Final map speaks for itself. It's a map of all the states that I've gotten good and tuned up drunk in. Georgia gets honorable mention because I got drunk off two barleywines there, but I wasn't tuned up enough to be classified as "faced".
For anyone truly interested, a trip to Delaware is well worth it. I just wish that I had had more than a day to spend there.

EDIT: If you've been reading the comments section, you'll see that I inadvertently left off Illinois. It popped into my mind that my buddy Will and I went to Second City with several of our theater friends and we proceeded to pretty much try to drink the city of Chicago dry. I remember passing out on the bus only to wake up at some point chanting "Huzzah" and then getting lectured by a rather keg-shaped woman on the origins of the word "huzzah" and how it relates to "hooray". Memories are so much better when they're fractured...

So what have you been drinking from KY? Just curious.

Honestly, I believe the name of the beer was "Horse Piss Beer" and it was brewed by the Bluegrass Brewing Company in Louisville.

And here's the link, in case you wanted to know.

You're 5 states ahead of me! But mine looks WAY different.

I'll post mine tomorrow.

Of course yours looks different! Texas and California are on them!

I'm looking at the map, and I can't see any further expansion anytime soon. Maybe Louisiana in a few years? Maybe New Jersey? Ugh. I've stagnated.

What a great idea.

Look for mine on COTL soon.

It is a cool idea.

I recommend everyone who wants to do this to pull the outline map from 50states.com. The others I downloaded wouldn't allow me to color in the states with anything other than gray.

how about getting totally wasted in Europe?

I'm fully aware of how pathetic this is, but the closest I've ever come to being out of the U.S. of A. is several trips through Ohio.

That being said...getting wasted in Europe would be great. Dangerous. But great. My stupid Yankee ass would mouth off to the wrong set and end up pummeled somewhere. Or I'd be entranced by a beautiful woman with a sexy accent, and she'd take me to a hotel room, tie me to the bed, and then rob me blind, pants and all.

See, I've already envisioned getting drunk in Europe. Someday...someday...

If it's any consolation, I do have a list of European countries from which I've had a beer. Perhaps that will be a post in the near future...

First, I never realized that you never got "deep in your cups" in Wisconsin or Illinois. I feel bad. Get on a plane right now...tell work ninjas are after you.

Second, as for Europe, I had the pleasure of being pissed up in the UK (England, to be precise) and France.

I was debating Illinois for a while, since you and I got pretty good and tuned up in Meredith's dorm room.

But then, just now, I remembered that trip to Second City.

I will fix that as soon as I get home.

As for Wisco...yeah, no drunkeness there. And it's a shame...

What, pray tell, got you good and tuned up in the southern-most Canadian province a.k.a. Minnesota?

BTW, This is a cool post. I will be copying it soon.. and claiming it as my own :)

Ahh, yes...that Second City trip. If you'll remember, we saw Rachel Dratch and Tina Fey (who I have a bit of a thing for) and ate at Gino's East (where the pitchers flowed like spring rain).

I remember that aforementioned morphologigally keggy woman doing that...fuck her right in the ear.

Well, I posted mine at COTL.

Eric, I was in the Land of 10,000 Lakes to hang with my then to-be father-in-law. My girl at the time and I busted into the liquor cabinet while he was out playing golf.
