Glaringly Obvious

May 4, 2009

I saw this today on CNN. From a so-called "expert":

No shit, Sherlock.

I suppose this is just CNN's method of clinging to this "news" about the Swine flu for a while longer. Hysteria sells ad space, I guess.

Here's a few other things that experts can tell us:

"Water, it can be wet most of the time."
"The Day-moon would rather be called 'The Sun!'"
"Woolly Mammoths are dead and gone...but not forgotten!"
"Eating lots of fats and not exercising can lead to obesity!"
"Poop: A lot of times it's brown and most of the time it stinks!"

Hysteria is CNN's favorite news topic.

I think he meant to be at IMDB critquing that movie, "Outbreak" with Rene Russo.

And why does their news guy look like a young David Letterman post-labotomy?

profound grasp of the obvious is hysterical. Or is it grasp of the profound is obviously hysterical? Either way, it makes me want to throw rocks at the television - then get on a plane and eat pork.

There's so much speculation in the "News."

"no shit Sherlock" - haven't heard that one in ages.

Expert, huh? See, this is why I don't watch CNN.

That, and I don't have cable.

I just get all my news from Poobomber these days. Works for me.

Next thing you know they're going to tell me that McDonald's is causing children to be obese.

And that my triple grande espresso is the reason I'm wide awake right now.

Ugh.

*toggles her motorized desk chair to the fridge and eats Chunky Monkey ice cream straight out of the container once she's back at the computer, her eyes registering shock as she reads that fat + no exercise = fat ass.*

"Poop: A lot of times it's brown, most of the time it stinks, and it ALWAYS, ALWAYS makes Gwennie LOL."

In our house "thanks Captain Obvious" is heard quite a bit. Super Hero poses usually go along with it.

We're working on the deck this weekend, it's starts raining. Everyone stops what they are doing, and rushes to grab things that should get wet. One person says "hey, it's raining."

Thanks Captain Obvious...what would we do without you!! :-)

The whole Swine Flu hysteria reminds me of weather reports warning of "KILLSTORM '09!" I swear, I live in Los Angeles and they have "Winter Storm Alerts". That means it might rain. I am not making this up.
